Discover Westwood

Clipboard01What’s with communion?  What is baptism all about?  Why would anyone want to become a member of a church?  Where does serving fit into the big picture?  What is Mennonite Brethren?

These are all great questions that many of us wrestle with!  Through our Discover Westwood course we look at many of these questions and other questions like them.  Our goal in working through the course material together is to help provide a solid base for a healthy and vibrant relationship with Jesus.  Some of the goals of this foundational series are to:

  • Discover our church community and learn the purpose, mission and “personality” of Westwood.
  • Get to know other people (both “new” and “old”) in the Westwood family.
  • Find confidence in that you are following God’s provision for living in a growing relationship with him as described in the Bible.
  • Learn about communion, baptism and church membership.

The typical pattern and schedule of courses is as follows:

  • The Story of the Church (a look at the historical Church, the Mennonite Brethren, and Westwood in particular)
  • The Story of Being Reborn (salvation, your story of faith, how to talk about faith)
  • The Story of a New Family (communion, baptism, membership)
  • Baptism and Membership Sunday
